I took my beer to the homebrew club tonight and they didn't think it was horrible. That's awesome because I was just looking for some input on how my steps for brewing were over the actual beer. I believe my next step is to find a style I enjoy myself and start tweaking until I learn roughly how each of the different ingredients of a beer affect the flavor. I think after that I will start trying to create my own recipes.
Speaking of recipes, here's the recipe I used for my MoreBeer American Ale:
7 lbs Ultralight Malt Extract
1 lb Crystal 15
1 oz Magnum Hops for 60 minutes of the boil
1 oz Ahtanum Hops for 5 minutes of the boil
1 oz Ahtanum Hops for 1 minute of the boil
1 Whirlflock Tablet for 20 minutes of the boil
I used 1 vial of WLP001 California Ale and forgot to get a starting and final gravity.
Again, it wasn't bad according to the guys at the homebrew club and I've been enjoying it for a few weeks now myself.
